After a long day, my wife Bhavana and I had no energy left to cook dinner, so I grabbed our steel dabbas as always and walked to the neighbourhood restaurant (tiffin place) for dosas 😋.
The waiter looked as tired as I felt. He glanced at my box, then at the two, golden dosas rolled up on the counter, and shook his head. A full-length dosa roll wouldn’t fit in the round dabba I’d brought.

I didn’t want to go home for a bigger container, and I didn’t want them to. pack in plastic boxes. So I asked him to simply cut them in half. Two dosas became four neat rolls, sitting side by side in the dabba like they had been made for it.
They reached home crisp, and kids loved it as usual 😍.
It’s a small moment. When something doesn’t fit, our first instinct is often to look for a bigger container. Sometimes the smarter move is to reshape what goes inside. Same dosa, same box, just a different way of packing it.
